How We Began...
The Miracle Center Church began as a backyard Bible study in 1980. Seventeen people attended. Nobody there thought it was going to be a church.
But after a few meetings, the idea of something more permanent took hold. The group continued on in the area which is 3751 Commercial Avenue for weekly meetings, and eventually constructed a building. The church kept growing, and eventually required a larger building on the same property. Finally, the church – then known as La Obra Milagrosa – purchased property on Commercial Avenue in southside Bexar County, and built what is now TMC on what had been a field of grass and dirt. When the new building was dedicated, the congregation was named The Miracle Center Church.
Unveiling Jesus and His Finished Work
Broadcasting the gospel of grace around the world
"My ministry is all about exalting the person of Jesus and giving Him the central place in the Church by building up people on His eternal word one soul at a time.”
Is this your first time?
TMC is a beehive of activity throughout the week, but most people encounter us for the first time during one of our two weekly worship services.
Our services at 9:45 a.m. Sundays are probably closest to what you may have experienced if you attended church when you were younger. It’s when you’ll typically find men and women dressed in their “Sunday best,” but no particular attire is expected or required.
You’ll want to arrive early to get oriented, to make sure any children you have brought with you are settled into their classes (Children's Center opens at 9:00 a.m.) and to be seated. The tabernacle, or sanctuary, opens at 9 a.m. Many people arrive early to be seated, but our large screens make it easy to see what’s happening from anywhere in the room.
Services typically last around two hours. Come early and enjoy coffee in our “Bookstore” area in the East foyer! Hanging out with others at the Bookstore is a great way to meet new friends and enjoy the company of your church family. You can also enjoy the Bookstore after service, while the traffic clears.
At our services at 9:45 a.m. Sundays, we hope you’ll feel free to dress comfortably and casually. The format of our evening services varies, and often includes guest speakers. On the third Sunday of the month we have our baby dedication services. We usually ask for the parents who are dedicating their children to arrive 15 minutes early as these services are conducted at 9:30 a.m.
TMC also gathers as a family on Wednesdays, and it’s an ideal place to bring your family at the end of your day. Dress is come as you are, and the services focuses on teaching from God’s Word. There is a separate service for youth and children’s ministries available as well. Everything typically wraps up by 9:30 p.m.
The worship music you’ll hear in our services is a blend of old hymns you may remember from childhood, today’s contemporary worship music and everything in between – all delivered in a spirit of excitement about who God is and what He has done for us. Teachings and sermons will convince you of the incredible reality of God’s love and challenge you to live for Him – not only during our worship times together, but throughout the week.
And what about the kids? Well, they’ll be begging you to bring them to the Children's Center each and every week! Children from nursery to 5th grade love learning about Jesus in an affirming, caring atmosphere.
We know you’ll enjoy your time with us, and we look forward to welcoming you into our congregation.
